| Dentures |
| |
| Dentures are designed to replace missing teeth and are worn by millions of Americans. Technological advancements have resulted in dentures today that are lightweight and mimic the look and feel of natural teeth. Most dentures are made from a combination of metals and synthetic material, such as acrylic resin. |
| |
 |
| |
| Types
of dentures |
| |
| Dentures are generally classified as partial or full. |
| |
| Partial dentures are designed to replace a small section of teeth and help prevent existing healthy, natural teeth from shifting position. |
| |
| Full dentures generally replace an entire set of teeth, such as upper and lower dentures. Partial dentures are prepared in much the same way as full dentures and are recommended when only a few teeth are missing. If you are missing several or all of your teeth, you may be a good candidate for dentures. |
| |
| Dentures restore the function of your teeth and the appearance of your smile. Dentures also can correct facial features affected by missing teeth. |

Bridges |
| |
| A bridge is a custom-made device used to replace a missing tooth or teeth by anchoring to neighboring teeth on either side. When a lost tooth is replaced with bridgework, the teeth on either side of the missing one are commonly prepared as we would for a crown. The preparation of both teeth allows us to create sufficient space to accommodate the materials that will serve as abutments to hold the prosthetic tooth in place. If you have missing teeth, dental bridges may be the ideal procedure to help return your smile to its youthful beauty. |
| |
|
| |
| During your first appointment at our office, a small amount of tooth structure will be removed from the teeth surrounding the gap. An impression is then made and sent to a dental lab so the bridge can be custom fabricated. You will be fitted with a temporary bridge until your next visit, at which time the permanent dental bridge will be adjusted for comfort and cemented into place. |
| |
| A dental bridge can do more than fill in gaps, correct speaking and chewing problems, and increase strength when biting. When teeth drift, the change in your bite can result in a sore jaw, gum disease and decay. |
| |
| If you are experiencing pain when chewing, strain when biting or have difficulty speaking because of misaligned or missing teeth, a dental bridge might be the perfect option for you. |

Colored Fillings |
| |
| Tooth-colored fillings are undeniable proof that science can be artfully applied to cosmetic dentistry. No longer will you feel uncomfortable with gold and silver amalgam fillings. Now you can smile with confidence as you show off your perfectly blended tooth-colored fillings. |
| |
 |
| |
| Tooth-colored fillings are made from composite resins that are bonded to your teeth, forming a tight seal. This seal prevents bacteria from attacking your teeth, helping teeth to stay healthy and decay-free. Tooth-colored fillings also can prevent hot and cold sensitivity, as well as biting pain. Additionally, tooth-colored fillings require less of your tooth to be removed, so you can keep more of your natural tooth structure. |
| |
| Any decay is removed from the affected tooth before applying the tooth-colored filling in a series of layers. A special light is used to harden the resin after which time the filling is shaped and polished for a natural look and feel. |
| |
| Tooth-colored
fillings are practically undetectable,
easy to apply, and usually require only
one visit. Want to learn more? |

| Partial
Crowns, Inlays, & Onlays |
| |
| Art and science come together to create long-lasting, natural partial crowns called inlays and onlays. Similar to fillings, inlays and onlays fill cavities and other areas of trauma or tooth decay. |
| |
 |
| |
| Inlays are among the most conservative approaches to restorative dentistry. They are a strong, durable material made outside the mouth to replace part of a tooth, which are then cemented or bonded into place. An inlay fits like a puzzle piece into the tooth. If one of the points, or cusps, is also replaced, this is called an onlay. |
|
| If the part of the tooth to be restored is greater than a filling, inlay or onlay can accommodate, a crown is recommended. Unlike regular fillings, which are composed of a soft material that is molded into the tooth, indirect porcelain fillings are generally shaped in a dental lab and then firmly cemented into place during a later visit to the dentist office. |

(Root Canal) Therapy |
| |
| When healthy teeth become infected or damaged, their nerves often die along with the teeth. Often, the only way to save such an infected tooth is through root canal therapy. |
| |
 |
|
| Root canal therapy is the process of removing the tooth's pulp, cleaning all the infected tissue in the pulp chamber and root canal. This is done using tiny files until all traces of the pulp are gone. The first visit usually involves removing the infected pulp and cleaning the infected chamber. Usually medication is left in the pulp chamber for a period of a few weeks to eliminate all bacteria. |
| |
| On the second visit, provided all bacteria are eliminated, the tooth can be sealed with a pink substance called gutta-percha, which prevents bacteria from getting to the root of the tooth again. If bacteria still remain, the infected pulp chamber and root canal are cleaned again. |
| |
| Because a tooth has no pulp to nourish it after a root canal, it is recommended that a crown be fitted so the structure of the tooth is not compromised and its appearance remains the same. |
| |
| Root canal treatments today are mostly painless and are recommended over the removal of a tooth. To learn more
